I don’t know about you, but sometimes it feels like the past year has been one long Lent. The coronavirus pandemic began shutting down society just a couple weeks after Ash Wednesday last year. Since then, we have experienced prolonged times of imposed fasting and abstinence. It has felt like a long spiritual desert where our religious practices and community gatherings have been disrupted. Like Jesus in the wilderness, as a church and a nation we have experienced a season of temptations which we haven’t always resisted. Like many of us, the start of COVID-19 was a shock to my normal routine. I welcomed the “two-week” lockdown as a nice retreat from my normal busy life, but as it continued for months, I started to welcome more vices into my life. February 15 - March 19 | Begin your 33-Day Consecration so as to end on the Solemnity of St. Joseph. Group discussions will take place on the OLMC Facebook Community Page every Monday at 7 p.m. You will need the book with the corresponding name by Fr. Donald Calloway. We will end our journey with a special Mass and consecration ceremony.
You’ve heard it over and over. “Patience is a virtue.” Finding peace and calm in our days can be very challenging with all of the different demands and pressures on us. When something is out of our control, when we cannot have something instantly, when we are struggling with the same problem or issue, or when we are dealing with someone else’s faults, our patience can wear quite thin.
