Dear families, What a Lent this is turning out to be. Last Saturday, as I walked through the school to put up signs indicating the cancellation of CFF and donuts, my heart sank with the realization that I wouldn't be coming in to unlock all the doors early Sunday morning. I don't know how long this will last, but I do know how grateful I am for the privilege of walking the journey of faith with your families. I look forward to seeing the children in the school again, making noise in the classrooms, laughing, asking questions, and growing as young disciples of Jesus Christ. Though we aren't able to gather in person during this time of great trial, our faith formation staff is determined to stay connected with our parish family. We've been working hard all week to plan ways in which we can support our parish family with online resources. I'll be sending weekly CFF updates that will support your family's faith at home. We're creating a special parish family Facebook Group to help us stay connected and inspired, and there will be much more. These are difficult times. Let us hold onto hope. This Scripture was on my mind this morning: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). This trial will pass and we will be stronger in faith for having endured it. Though we're separated by space, we can remain united in prayer. Please know that your families are in my family's daily prayers. That's a promise. My family would appreciate your prayers, as well. Let's get through this together. In His peace, Leighton Drake Director of Children's Faith Formation |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God. For as Christ’s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow. If we are afflicted, it is for your encouragement and salvation; if we are encouraged, it is for your encouragement, which enables you to endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is firm, for we know that as you share in the sufferings, you also share in the encouragement. 2 Corinthians 1:3-7, NABRE |
Please join in Pope Francis' prayer to Mary during the COVID-19 pandemic. |
O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. |
