This Catholic Ministries Appeal is a transitional appeal. It is taking the place of Fruitful Harvest, but instead of being 24 months, this is going to be 16 months. It is transitional to give our parishioners some constancy in all these turbulent changes from COVID-19 and the Uniting in Heart diocesan plan. After that, it will move to an annual appeal with some changes as well. More information about that change to come.
The reason for the change is to focus on the many ministries that are supported through this appeal and to increase the transparency of how the funds raised from this appeal are utilized to support the works of Christ directly through the diocese, as well as through the ministries that support each of our local parishes.
| How It Affects Us
There will be no dovetail campaign nor any "rebate" that will come back to the parish. Instead, any donations above our goal will go into the Catholic Ministries Appeal overage fund, from which pastors can submit requests for support of needy parishioners, parishes, or local community needs. We will need to start a separate capital campaign when we plan on moving forward with our parish building plans.
Think of this appeal as a shorter Fruitful Harvest. We are asking every parishioner to prayerfully discern supporting the many ministries the diocese facilitates by giving financially and spiritually to this "Hearts on Fire" appeal. Consider making a monthly pledge for the 16 months. A $1,000 pledge is only $163 a month!
