Join us online tomorrow morning (Wednesday, March 25) for a special Mass for children celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation at 8 am on Facebook Live on our main FB page HERE! |
Dear families, I've changed the name of the "CFF Family Update" to "CFF Family Connect," as we continue to live within the reality of social distancing. I'll continue to send you resources and updates through Flocknote and traditional emails (as some families don't utilize Flocknote). Flocknote is a good resource because it enables me to imbed videos, etc. I pray that your family is doing well. Does it feel to you like this "exile" has already lasted for several weeks? It does for my family! But we're settling into a certain routine, which for us is healthy and provides the children a sense of security that is so important. We've been very grateful to stay connected to the parish through Facebook and the live-streamed Masses. Sunday at 11 am we watched OLMC Mass cast on our TV screen. It was comforting to see the familiar faces of Fr. Richard, Fr. Hurley, and Deacon Paul, and to hear Rex Rund's familiar voice lead us in song. My prayer life has definitely ratcheted up. I'm finding that throughout the day I'm drawn to the prayer, "Jesus, I trust in You." Our virtual staff meetings always end with the Memorare, which I love, but even more so during these strange days of Lent. I hope your family is finding some comfort in a routine and discovering new ways to pray. Please see the CFF Notes below for resources and information. There's also an important video message from Deacon Paul Lunsford. Many blessings to all of you! In Christ, Leighton Drake Director of Children's Faith Formation / Middle School Ministry |

-CFF NOTES- FAITH FORMATION RESOURCES
I'll continue to share resources for your family (not to overwhelm you but to give you options from which to choose!). FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION Please continue to work in your God's Gift: First Eucharist books. Some suggestions: Practice the reception of communion with your children, using small crackers. Take some time and read John, Chapter 6 as a family, and share Jesus' teaching that the Eucharist is His true Body and Blood to be received by His disciples. Discuss what it feels like to be hungry, and how we need food for sustenance. Talk about how we hunger for God (and love) and explain that the Eucharist is the heavenly food that nourishes us so that we may follow Jesus. Please participate in the live-streamed OLMC Masses on Saturday evenings at 5:30 pm and Sundays at 11 am. I'm also attaching an adapted Liturgy of the Word with an act of spiritual communion as another option for prayer. OLMC COMMUNITY GROUP REMINDER Don't forget to join our Facebook OLMC Community Group. In the past, I've been a half-hearted Facebook user, using Facebook mostly to see photos of my grown kids' families. At this time, I'm finding Facebook to be a wonderful way to stay in touch with my parish community, and it's helping my family to continue to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, our Light, during these challenging times.
Deacon Paul Lunsford has an important message for our parish family. Our faith is what will carry us through, and we need your help to continue our ministries at OLMC. Thank you for your generous support of our parish! |
